Jogjakarta Culture: Honeymoon Tips
To visit some place we have to blend with its culture. Do you agree with me? Of course! Because, every place has every culture you have to adapt with. So, let’s get to know Jogjakarta.
As I mention in previous article, Jogjakarta is representation of Java, truly Java with its culture in it. Wikipedia mentions that Javanese culture is culture belong to Javanese Ethnic Group in Indonesia. Jogjakarta is one of centers of Javanese culture beside Central Java Province and East Java Province.
Society culture is one of part of culture itself. As tourists who want to take honeymoon in Jogjakarta, you and your spouse better to get to know about society culture because both of you will interact with Jogjakarta people. Don’t worry, I don’t want to make you be afraid or be bridle, I just want to help you to know about Jogjakarta culture so you can blend with it and enjoy your honeymoon moment without a hitch, which means. This is some substances that require some attentions:
1. Guest is a king.
This is an idiom which means that guest not merely can ask everything to the hosts but more in host’s side, guest should be deserved. Especially guests from abroador out of town as you and your spouse, the host will give a good impression to you. And may be you think it look sex aggerated impression for you. But, in the host’s side, they do it with pleasure. Even, for the hosts that do not like it there will be a feeling of guilt.
2. Javanese people usually talk with low voice.
Do you come from states that usually talk with high voice? Don’t worry. You don’t be asked to be the other personality. You just get to know this point and it’s very good if you can adapt with this situation with at least talk with low voice. Especially for people older than us we should show our respect to them.
3. Eating rule.
Usually, children in Javanese was being teaches by their parents in eating rule. Some of the rules are below:

- Don’t eat with putting the plate on the hand and don’t eat with standing position.
- The Javanese people say this is an in appropriate thing to do. The real meaning maybe to prevent the food and drink spilled. But, this prohibition has shifted in meaning after it had been cultural absorption with the entering of standing party in wedding ceremony.
